Most people in today’s culture think that the world revolves around them. And who could blame them? There is a whole industry around taking selfies, becoming a star on social media and convincing people that you’re “all that,” as many of today’s most visible reality star celebrities have done. But what people with this mindset are missing is the basic truth that, in fact, the world does not revolve around them, and they would be better served by helping and caring about others. My guides, angels — what I often call “the powers that be” — are always telling me this: That humility is at the heart of greatness. This is a mantra that I’ve heard over and over again from my inner voice, which can be quite loud at times: HUMILITY IS AT THE HEART OF GREATNESS!
What a concept! I was reading about Pope Francis one day, and he said something that I won’t soon forget. When talking about the enormous responsibility he has to make positive change in the world, he responded that he “has the humility and ambition” to achieve this goal. I greatly respect the Pope, and this is one reason why.
When I was writing my book — which my literary agent is currently shopping to different publishers — I wanted to write a chapter about celebrities and other highly successful people who attributed their great success to help from a higher power or a specific spiritual turning point in their lives. Aside from Oprah Winfrey and her famous “Aha moments,” I couldn’t find any celebrities who would go on record to say that they were guided in any spiritual way to achieve their success. It was all about them, and how great and talented they were. One of the gifted psychics I interviewed for my book has many celebrity clients who she reads on a regular basis. I asked her why these people, who readily admitted to this intuitive that they knew that had received divine guidance and direction along the way, wouldn’t share these revelations with other people. The psychic explained that “most of these celebrities feel uncomfortable giving their guides or angels credit for their spiritual epiphanies and resulting career milestones because there’s a taboo about discussing such things in Hollywood.”
So I couldn’t write that chapter — not yet, at least. As long as it’s not “cool” to discuss the fact that we have a powerful inner voice that guides us, and that certain events occur because we’ve been blessed with divine guidance, these celebrities and other successful people will likely stay mum. And that’s a shame. But the rest of us can take advantage of this amazing divine wisdom that all of us have access to, and run with it! But, please, if something wonderful happens as a result of this divine guidance, have the guts to own up to it. It’s time we gave credit where credit is due!
